Noteworthy events during game |
The game commenced 30 minutes late due to traffic encountered by the East Lake Eagles bus during their two hour drive south to Sarasota. The Eagles took out their road aggressions on the Rams by jumping out to a quick 4-1 lead. East Lake goalie Austin Hoelke (Senior) was excellent off the bus stopping 8 of 9 shots in the first quarter between the pipes. The Rams were able to regroup and tie the score by the end of the half at 4 with a barrage of 3 goals in 51 seconds led by faceoff fast break wins by Riverview’s Solano Benitez (Junior). Riverview found their groove in the second half and dominated the scoring 8-3. The faceoff duo of Logan Alexander (Freshman) and Benitez was 18 for 23 during the game and 12 for 13 in the second half allowing the Ram to have bonus possessions. The Rams relied on the play of their deep bench with the injury bug still decimating their season. Two starters were unable to play and a third starter couldn’t finish the game. The Rams were led by Kevin Southerland (Senior) and J.C. Fleming (Sophomore) each with 4 goals. Dylan Alexander (Senior) added three assists. Palmer Wood (Senior), Samuel Hage (Senior) and Kyle Simonson (Junior) each racked up two goals for the Eagles. Riverview’s record now moves to 9-6, while East Lake falls to 11-4. |
