Noteworthy events during game

The Riverview Rams (6-2) made the 2-hour bus ride north to Tampa to take on the Berkeley Prep Bucs (4-5). The first half saw Berkeley senior midfielder, Reid Mazzuco, put on a shooting clinic with 5 unassisted goals. The Rams were fighting the proverbial mid-season injury bug, but managed to finish the half with at a 6-6 tie due to the depth of their bench.

Rams head coach, Pete DeLisser, must have made halftime defensive adjustments as Mazzuco was double- and triple-teamed throughout the second half and he was unable to find the back of the net. Rams senior midfielder Kevin Southerland found himself open many times during the night and picked up four goals.

After a back-and-forth game, the Rams went up by two for the first time in the game, 11-9, with 7:39 remaining in the game. Preventive defense and midfield ball control allowed Riverview to run out the clock for the victory.

The faceoff tandem of Solano Benetiz and Logan Alexander combined to win 18 of 23 faceoffs, giving Riverview extra possessions throughout the night.
