Shark Tank Invests in the Future!

The Ponte Vedra Girl’s home game against Creekside featured their local rec program, Riptide, and thanks to PV head coach Jennifer Conway for sharing the details!

“Just this past Tuesday March 29th we hosted Creekside in the Shark Tank! It was Riptide Day! Just wanted to share with you the Ponte Vedra High School lacrosse team giving back to the sport and the community. Riptide is our local lacrosse recreational program where most of our team has grown up learning and playing the game of lacrosse.

It was such a fun night with over 50 little laxers from Riptide sharing the field with us during announcements and the National Anthem. The stadium was full of positive energy! Thought this would be something nice to share about our team and our sport.”

Yes, Jennifer, it is, since supporting local recreational programs is very important for the health of the sport going forward. Not everyone looks at our sport as a source of a college scholarship or a national travel program. Many kids just want to PLAY the sport and learn as they go along.

As a kid, I had the concept of ‘pick-up’ games and those happened because we ENJOYED playing. Did we keep score? Much of the time, but not always. Did we need a scheduled practice time or location reserved in advance? Not for pick-up!

Recreational lacrosse is a great way to get introduced to the sport without the need to wonder every step of the way where it was heading.

Thanks for the reminder, Coach Conway!
