Stanton Scores Four, Lynn Collects First Victory

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Senior Jalen Stanton scored four goals and Lynn University used an 8-1 scoring run to collect a 13-8 victory over visiting Flagler, Saturday in men’s lacrosse action. The win is the first of the season for Lynn and is the first for Mark Miller at the helm of the Fighting Knight program.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
– Both teams attempted 38 shots on the afternoon
– The Fighting Knights finished 22-of-23 on clear attempts and limited the Saints to just 19-of-26 on clears
– Lynn scooped up 40 ground balls and won 14-of-24 faceoffs
– The Saints jumped out to a 3-1 lead before the Fighting Knights scored eight of the game’s next nine goals for an 8-4 lead early in the third quarter
– Junior Colin Farragher scored off an assist from sophomore Dylan Colon with 2:18 left in the first that started the scoring outburst
– Lynn outscored Flagler 6-1 in the second quarter
– Senior Thomas Murray opened the second frame with an unassisted tally
– Graduate student Stephen Becker scored a goal and handed out an assist in the second and Stanton scored with 1:52 left in the second as the Fighting Knights led 8-4 at halftime
– Colon found senior Fisher Williams for the third quarter’s first score as Lynn led 9-4
– Just before the midway point of the third quarter, Farragher found Colon for a goal and Lynn’s largest lead of the afternoon at 11-5
– Flagler rebounded with three-straight to narrow the deficit to 11-8 early in the fourth
– Freshman Jackson Cutter scored with 10:59 left in the fourth and Stanton added a goal with 2:05 to play to push the final differential to five goals
 
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
– Stanton finished the afternoon with four goals and one assist
– Colon and Farragher each scored once and handed out two assists
– Graduate student Michael Miocic won 13-of-23 faceoffs
– Graduate student Chase Showalter picked up four ground balls with two caused turnovers
– Graduate student Colin Casey picked up the victory in goal with 13 saves

Saints Some up Short Against the Fighting Knights

BOCA RATON, Fla.  – Trace McDonald scored two goals for Flagler College in today’s matchup at Lynn University. Although they put forth a good effort, the Saints fell 13-8 against the Fighting Knights.

The Saints are now 1-4 overall and the Fighting Knights move to 1-2 overall.

McDonald, Tyler Douglas, and Ben Byrne all scored for the Saints in the first quarter creating a lead, 3-1.

The Fighting Knights offense came back in second quarter ending it with a lead of 8-4. Jalen Stanton scored four goals for the Fighting Knights who did not give up their lead after the second quarter.

Saints goalie Nate Lehr had 15 saves, Blake Gonzalez collected five ground balls and Jake Griffin won nine faceoffs.

Next up the Saints will be back on the road to face off against Rollins College on Saturday, March 4 at 2 p.m.
