The Lions Take Care of Business With a 23-7 Win Versus PBA

SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo men’s lacrosse team makes it look easy with a 23-7 win over Palm Beach Atlantic to continue their positive run.

The Lions now move to 7-3 after the win.

In the first quarter, Saint Leo struck first as Adem Tekman put the ball in the back of the net less than one minute into the game.

The Lions took a 7-1 lead into the second quarter following their massive performance in the first.

In the second quarter, it was Greg Palmer who got the Lions going with a goal coming off of a Tekman assist.

It was a 14-1 lead going into halftime in favor of the Green & Gold.

The Lion’s dominance continued in the second half as they took home a 23-7 victory.

The leading goal scorers for Saint Leo were Guy Bistrow and Greg Palmer.

In net it was a collective effort from Chase Strait and Evan Hock.

The Lions are now going on the road as they face off versus Florida Southern on April 5th at 7:00pm.

Sailfish Fall At Saint Leo

SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic men’s lacrosse team was defeated by Saint Leo 23-7 on the road. PBA’s freshmen produced offensively as Bryce DownsCooper Porter, and Keegan Southard all scored. Downs led the ‘Fish with two goals.  Defensively, Hunter Sheffield and Christian Bond caused one turnover each. Hunter Hopman picked up a team-high six ground balls. 

The Lions won the faceoff battle 21-12 and took nine more shots than the Sailfish. Additionally, SLU committed eight fewer turnovers and picked up eight more ground balls than PBA. 

Jonah Robertson scored his eighth goal of the season unassisted for PBA’s first goal of the game. With 9:08 left in the third quarter, Keegan Southard ripped a shot for his sixth goal of the year. With under three minutes left in the third quarter, Downs scored two consecutive goals for the ‘Fish. With 2:40 left in the third, PBA’s Blake Rowse connected with Downs near the net for PBA’s third goal. Rowse has distributed three assists this season. Downs’ second goal was unassisted. Neil Calkin found the back of the net with 12:49 left in the fourth quarter. The Massachusetts native is second on the team with 11 goals this season. Porter called his own number for his sixth goal of the year with 4:37 left. Joshua Turner tacked on one more goal for the ‘Fish with five seconds left in the game. Turner has scored four goals this season. 

Next, the Sailfish travel to Melbourne for a matchup with Florida Tech on Saturday, Apr. 8.
