TAMPA, FL. – The No.13 ranked University of Tampa Spartans women’s lacrosse team dominates their last regular season home game against No.12 Embry-Riddle

HOW IT HAPPENED:

First Quarter
The Spartans wasted no time finding the back of the net, with Sarah Hinkle netting two goals to open the first quarter. Tampa’s offense continued surging, with Emma McLoughlin connecting with Madison Birch. Down by three goals, the Eagles called their first time out of the game. After the timeout, the Eagles defense found new life. The Spartan offense rolled in the quarter, ending it with a last minute goal by Georgia Glowaki. The Spartans scored as follows:

Second Quarter
The Second quarter began with high energy from both teams, with the Spartans opening the scoring once again. Hinkle netted her second of the game just a minute after the goal by teammate Brynn Nestor. After the Spartans netted their eighth goal, the Eagles called their second timeout to try and regroup. The Eagles go on the board with just under eight minutes left before the half. The Spartans would go into halftime with a dominate eight lead. The Spartans scored as follows:

Third Quarter
The third quarter opened similarly to the second quarter, with the Spartans dominating on offense. Birch opened the scoring for the quarter, netting her fourth of the game on a free-position shot. Tampa continued to dominate on both sides of the ball, and went into the final quarter with an 11 goal lead. The Spartans scored as follows:

Fourth Quarter

The fourth quarter would begin similarly to the first three, with the Spartans offense asserting their dominance. Hinkle netted her fourth of the game to put the Spartans up by 11 with 10 minutes left to play. The offensive surge of the Spartans early on would prove too much for the Eagles, and the Spartans would earn the win. The Spartans scored as follows:

Women’s Lacrosse Falls to No. 13 Tampa

TAMPA, Fla. – The 12th-ranked Embry-Riddle women’s lacrosse team suffered it third loss of the season on Wednesday, falling to 13th-ranked Tampa 17-6 on the road. The loss was also the third in Sunshine State Conference play for the Eagles who are no 14-3 overall and 3-3 in the league. Tampa maintains its position at the top of the league standings at 5-1 in the SSC and the Spartans are 9-6 overall.
 
Tampa controlled the game from the beginning, going on an 8-0 run to start the contest. Zariah Durham got the Eagles on the board at the 7:55 mark of the second quarter to end the Eagles’ scoring drought, but Tampa outscored the Eagles 5-2 in the second frame to extend the lead to 10-2 at the half.
 
The Spartans bested the Eagles 4-1 in the third quarter, but the Eagles went toe-to-toe with the home team in the fourth, matching Tampa’s three goals with scores by Durham, Elizabeth Ninesling and Devyn Taht.
 
Durham and Sallie Squire finished with two goals each, while Taht won four draws and registered two caused turnovers in the Eagle effort.
 
Embry-Riddle will play its final regular season game at home on Sunday. The Eagles will honor their seniors prior to the first draw against Saint Leo which is scheduled for 1 p.m.
