St. Andrew’s Liza Diamond Commits to Stetson

Written by Lee Roggenburg on . Posted in , , .
One of our FLN writers has a theory that all great goalies are the youngest in a family.  The youngest inevitably gets tossed in the goal while the older siblings practice shooting.  While we do not know Liza Diamond’s official birth order as a triplet, we know she has three brothers (Will, a four time state champion at SA who played at Rollins and fellow triplets at SA, Nick, committed to Vassar and Davis, committed to Albany) who practiced against her for years.  Liza had to be a great goalie just to make it to dinner.  A first team All-District and first team All-Region player last year, the senior committed to play at Stetson University yesterday.  Coach Mike Skonieczki is effusive in his praise of Liza, saying “I’m very proud of Liza.  She has one of the best attitudes on and off the field.”  Sounds like she’s a great teammate, too. Liza would like to thank all of the lacrosse coaches who have helped through the years, Mike Skonieczki, Alli Primo, Jeff Atkins and Jarlyn Mathews.  She also would like to thank her teammates and most importantly, her family. Congratulations and best wishes to Liza!
