Stetson Lacrosse Falls Just Short to Wofford

The Hatters fall just short to Wofford on Friday afternoon, 19-20.
 
Sam King started the scoring in the first half only 25 seconds into the game. Wofford tied it up less than thirty seconds later. King added three more goals in the lead as the Hatters pulled out to a 4-2 lead. Wofford tied it up at four before Anya Phillips broke the deadlock. The score was tied up at five but back-to-back goals from Sara Freeman and Jordyn Humphrey gave the Hatters a 7-5 lead. Stetson took a 7-6 lead into the second quarter. 
 
The Terriers tied the game up at seven. Kaitlin Pani gave the Hatters the lead back the game was tied up again at eight. Sam King scored her fifth goal of the afternoon, but the Hatters saw themselves trailing after two goals from Wofford. Lexi Bird tied it up, but Wofford took a 10-11 lead into halftime. 
 
The Terriers scored first in the second half, but Charlotte Castiglione answered for the Hatters with her first career collegiate goal. Wofford tallied three straight goals putting Stetson down four. Pani and Humphrey got two back, but the Terriers scored once more before the third putting Stetson down 13-16.
 
Wofford opened the fourth quarter with a goal. The Hatters would rally scoring five straight goals to take an 18-17 lead. In the 5-0 run King scored one while Humphrey and Pani each tallied two goals. Wofford tied the game up at 18 but King’s seventh goal gave Stetson the lead with 4:34 left. The Terriers put in two before the end of the game and the Hatters fell 19-20. 
 
King tallied a career high seven goals in this contest to lead the team with Humphrey and Pani each collecting 4 goals and an assist. Bird earned a career high five assists in her second collegiate game to lead the team. 
 
Stetson will continue their road trip as they will take on Davidson College on Sunday, Feb. 18 at 12pm.
