BOX SCORE

DeLand, Fla. — The Stetson University women’s lacrosse team fell 18-8 to East Carolina as the Pirates used an eight-goal second quarter to put the game out of reach for the Hatters at Monday afternoon at the ATC.

The Hatters (2-3) scored the contest’s first goal as senior Maria Snee found the back of the ECU net to put the Hatters ahead 1-0 at the 14:16 mark. After Snee’s goal, the Pirates (5-2) rattled off 11 consecutive goals from the middle of the 1st to the end of the 2nd when Stetson’s Saige Roe scored an unassisted goal to end the Hatters scoring drought and send the game to halftime.

Out of the break, the Pirates scored thrice more, but this time the Hatters responded sooner as Saige-Lyn Gidzinski netted a goal on an assist from freshman Samantha Paglino with 8:20 left in the 3rd quarter.

From the 4:24 mark in the 3rd until the end of regulation, Stetson outscored ECU 5-4 as the Hatters scored four goals in a row in the 4th quarter to end the game, but it was not enough to overcome the 10-goal deficit.

Roe and Paglino combined for four of the Hatters eight goals while Jessica Duggan added two assists.

Stetson’s lacrosse team will be back in action on Sunday, March 13 at noon as the Hatters take on Long Island University at the ATC.
