Stetson Hatters stumble against LIU

DeLand, Fla. — The Stetson University women’s lacrosse team fell 13-8 to LIU Sunday afternoon at the ATC. 

The Hatters (2-4) led off the contest with the first goal of the afternoon as Jacklyn Lavoie found the back of the LIU net with 12:54 left in the 1st. The Sharks (1-7) quickly tied the game and took the lead as LIU scored five straight goals and took a 5-1 lead by the end of the 1st quarter. Less than a minute into the 2nd, Camden Frissora scored the Hatters second goal to end the 5-0 scoring run from the Sharks, but by halftime, LIU led the Hatters 7-4. 

In the 3rd, back-to-back goals from Jordyn Humphrey and Molly Kearney put Stetson within one as the Sharks led 7-6. Before the end of the quarter, LIU tacked on another to extend the lead back to two. In the 4th, the Hatters made it a one-score game again as Saige-Lyn Gidzinski netted one with 9:05 remaining to make it 9-8, Sharks, but that was the closest the Hatters would get, as LIU ended the game with four straight goals for a 13-8 final.
