Strong Second Quarter Lifts #3 Warriors Past Ottawa

OTTAWA, Kan. (April 9, 2023) – In the last game of their away trip, The Webber International University men’s lacrosse team came out victorious against Ottawa University Braves with a result of 11-7. The Warriors (14-1 overall) ended their trip 3-0 and extended their win streak to seven.
 

The Warriors opened up the first quarter with a goal from Jeremiah Loo assisted by Chase Jackson. About two minutes later, Jackson would hit Houston Finlayson, who would net another goal for the Warriors. However, the Braves (5-5) would strike back three times in a row before Loo scored the last goal of the quarter with two second left in it.
 

Nick Sheaffer netted the first goal of the second quarter before the Braves put up another point for themselves. Sheaffer earned himself a hat trick in the quarter by scoring three more goals back-to-back. Christian Tapia ended the half off by putting the ball in the back of the cage in the last 55 seconds, which brought the score to 8-4 at half.
 

Third quarter was quiet for the Warriors as Dillion Ziemba netted the only goal and allowed the Braves to put up two goals for themselves. The Braves were held to one goal in the last quarter and Cade McCarron and Loo sealed the victory for the Warriors by scoring the last two goals for the Warriors, resulting in a score of 11-7.
 

The Warrior offense was led by Sheaffer netting four goals with Loo coming in behind with three. Cameron Paleski and Austin Schepers both tallied in four ground balls for the Warriors. Dane Fasano, Ziemba and Schepers had two caused turnovers each. Alex Cordero spent all four quarters in the cage making 11 saves and allowing seven goals.
 

The Warriors head back into conference play on Saturday, April 15, as they will take on No. 1 Keiser University at 1 p.m. in West Palm Beach, Florida.
