Tampa Women’s Lacrosse Announces Captains for 2024-25 Season

TAMPA, Fla. – The University of Tampa women’s lacrosse program has announced its captains ahead of the Spartans 2025 campaign. Coach Kelly Gallagher and her staff have selected five players to captain the Spartans all of who were a part of the National Championship team a year ago. 

Jenna Myhal | Midfield | Jr. | Suffern, N.Y.

Myhal, a junior from Suffern, N.Y. has been named as one of the team’s five captains for the 2024-25 season. Myhal gets the nod for the first time in her Spartan career as she enters year three with the team. She was a part of the National Championship squad a season ago which saw the program bring home its first-ever National title. In the Spartan’s run to its National title, she appeared in 22 games while starting in 18. The junior finished the season tallying 25 goals and registered at least one goal in 15 games. Myhal finished the year tallying two hat tricks versus Lee, (3/11/2024) and at Indianapolis, (3/17/2024). In addition, she was also able to add seven assists bringing her point total to 32, won 18 draw controls, collected 19 groundballs, and had a shots on goal percentage of 75.6.

Mary Kate Person | Midfield | Jr. | Jericho, N.Y.

Person is in her second season after transferring from Long Island University a year ago. The midfielder was selected as a captain last season and is the only captain from last year’s team to return. Person represented the Spartans in 11 contests last season and recorded a hat trick versus #20 Florida Tech, (4/6/2024). She finished the season with seven goals and had a shots on goal percentage of 84.6. The New York native also added three groundballs and one draw control to her name.

Molly Shapiro | Defense | Sr. | Herndon, Va.

Shapiro enters her fourth year in red and black. In her career as a Spartan, Shapiro has earned the D2 ADA Academic Award twice and been named to the SSC Commissioner’s Honor Roll twice. She currently serves as the Co-President on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and was most recently the recipient of the Freddie Solomon Community Service Award. In addition, Shapiro is a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma National Honor Society. The senior midfielder has appeared in 14 career games totaling seven goals including a season-high four in 2024.

Delaney Stahrr | Defense | Grad. | Syracuse, N.Y.

Stahrr came to Tampa in 2024 after transferring from the University of Indianapolis. The graduate defender played and started all 22 contests last season. Stahrr caused 13 turnovers and tallied 11 groundballs on the way to Tampa’s first-ever National title. She had a season-best three caused turnovers and two groundballs versus #4 Adelphi, (2/28/2024).

Sophi Wrisk | Midfield | Sr. | Baltimore, Md.

Wrisk enters her third season as a Spartan and is coming off her best year yet. Last season, she was named the SSC Tournament Most Outstanding Player and was also the Most Outstanding Player at the NCAA Championship. Wrisk also garnered other accolades during the year as she was named the IWLCA Offensive Player of the Week twice. The attacker also earned Second Team All-SSC and IWLCA nods. Wrisk appeared in all but one game last season tallying the third most goals on the squad (47) and assists (17). She went 10-15 on free positions while on the defensive side, she collected 15 groundballs and caused 11 turnovers.
