Another Challenge Hits the Lacrosse Community

A couple of weeks ago I got a phone call out of the blue from Chris Bocklet, who I hadn’t seen for about 4 years (we had breakfast in Boca with Ernie Mahler) except for a brief conversation at a Florida Launch game and we discussed a clinic he was putting on in Delray Beach in late December.  His brother Matt, sister Casey and Sammy Jo Tracy were all participating and they were also slated to work a few other events. HC Andy Bolger of SJP II was helping to organize and host the event.     Chris was just about wrapping up his professional career, having joined PLL for a few games.  Mike was the President of the Denver Outlaws when the MLL folded recently, and he worked closely with SA HC Tony Seaman there.  Chris was quite the player at UVA, as was the rest of the family.  And I’m kind of underplaying that quite a bit when you look at that poster’s Top right. I really looked forward to seeing Chris last week and we tried to get together at my son’s shop or at an early breakfast but family obligations kept cropping up and we missed each other last week. So you can imagine the shock I felt when I saw a tweet from Casey Powell’s Foundation concerning a GoFundMe set up for Chris yesterday:     Chris was severly injured in a longboarding accident and was admitted to a local hospital (I won’t disclose which one without family consent) where he is in serious condition. Here’s the GoFundMe:  LINK Chris, get well my buddy, there is an open invitation to breakfast or dessert whenever it happens in the future.
