UF: Gators Hit the Road for a Matchup with Drexel Dragons

PHILADELPHIA – The 13th-ranked Florida lacrosse team (3-4) is back on the road, this time with a matchup against Drexel (4-3) on Sunday in Philadelphia, Pa.

Opening draw is set for 11 a.m. at Vidas Field

The Gators and the Dragons are meeting for the first time in program history on Sunday.

In its last contest, Florida put up a stellar performance to take down the third-ranked Syracuse Orange 14-10 on Wednesday night. Drexel is coming off a 20-13 win over Albany.

Scouting the Dragons

  • Drexel is currently receiving votes in the IWLCA/ILWomen Top-25 Poll after starting the 2022 season off 4-3
  • Against ranked opponents, the Dragons are 1-1 in 2022, having beaten #25 Penn State (12-8) and having fallen to #20 Johns Hopkins (11-6)
  • Through the first seven games of the season, Karson Harris (19g, 5a), Corinne Bednarik (12g, 8a), Colleen Grady (12g, 8a), Lucy Schneidereith (12g, 2a) and Hayleigh Simpson (11g, 4a) are leading the way offensively for the Dragons
  • Harris, Bednarik and Maura Cissel are leading the way in the draw circle for Drexel, posting 32, 25 and 17, respectively
  • On the defensive end, Harris and Belle McHugh have caused 11 and 10 turnovers, respectively, through seven games
  • Zoe Bennett is seeing a majority of minutes in the cage for Drexel, posting 69 saves with a .519 save percentage in her 410:41 between the pipes. She has all seven decisions for the Dragons (4 wins, 3 losses)
