University of Tampa Women’s Lacrosse Set for First Draw in 2024

HICKORY, N.C. – The University of Tampa women’s lacrosse team is set to open the 2024 season on the road in Hickory, North Carolina.

The Matchup: No. 4 University of Tampa (0-0, 0-0 SSC) vs. Lenoir-Rhyne (1-1, 0-0 SAC)

Date/Time: Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at 3:00 p.m.

Location: Helen & Leonard Moretz Stadium. 

Series History: Tampa and Lenoir-Rhyne are split 2-2 in the series history with the Spartans winning the last two.

About the Spartans: Tampa looks to kick off the 2024 campaign on a positive note. The program is led by senior midfielder, Cece Colombo, who was named to the IWLCA Second Team a season ago, and Sarah Hinkle who notched 68 goals last season which was among the nation’s best in all of Division II. 

About the Bears: The Bears are coming off a home defeat to Florida Tech, 16-8. Through two games Lenoir-Rhyne has tallied 31 goals with senior midfielder, Ellie Campbell leading the team in goals with seven. The last time the Spartans and Bears matched up, Tampa came out victorious.
