The Florida Launch close out their 2017 regular season schedule with a matchup against the Boston Cannons this Saturday, July 29. Faceoff is set for 6 p.m. The game will be aired live on Lax Sports Network. After losing their season opener in an overtime upset, the Launch aim to even out their season record against the Cannons. Currently sitting in third place, the Launch hold tie-breaker advantages over three MLL teams: Rochester Rattlers, Charlotte Hounds, and New York Lizards. With a win over the Cannons, the Launch would finish the season at 8-6, a franchise best, in prime position for a postseason run. In their last matchup against the Cannons, Connor Buczek led the Launch with four points including his first of three two-point goals this season. Missing from the Launch’s roster in their first meeting with the Cannons was point-leader Kieran McArdle, who currently averages 4.2 points per game. When the Cannons traveled to Florida, Will Manny led in all scoring with six points. Manny, now a member of the Lizards, leaves an offensive void for the Cannons. The Cannons have seen a dramatic decrease in scoring average, going from 14.2 to 11.5 goals per game following the trade. Dylan Molloy, the first overall pick in the 2017 MLL Collegiate Draft, has been on fire as of late for the Launch. Molloy led the Launch with six goals and one assist in a win against the Hounds last week in the team’s home finale. His performance earned him his second Cascade Rookie of the Week honor of the season. The Launch hope to make their first playoff appearance in franchise history this year.
