2016 MLL Awards and Updates: Week 8

via press release   Warrior Offensive Player of the Week Jesse King led the offense with six goals and one assist in a huge victory over the Bayhawks this past weekend. His impressive play also earned him Coca-Cola Player of the Game.   Warrior Defensive Player of the Week Scott Rodgers put on a great performance between the pipes for the Machine on Thursday night. Rodgers let in only eight goals and had 19 saves in the victory over Charlotte.   Cascade Rookie of the Week The rookie from Duke made his mark on the League this past weekend and proved why he belongs in Atlanta. Deemer Class came out on fire and tallied five points including one 2-pointer in the losing effort against New York.   Ohio Machine 16 Charlotte Hounds 9   Ohio took an early lead which guaranteed them the win this past Thursday night.  Marcus Holman led the offense with five goals while Scott Rodgers anchored the team with his noteworthy performance in the cage. Coca-Cola Player of the Game: Scott Rodgers   New York Lizards 17 Atlanta Blaze 16 (OT)   It was back and forth action between the two teams all night but the Lizards eventually overpowered the Blaze to secure their first place standing in the League behind the game-winner from Lawson. Coca-Cola Player of the Game: Dave Lawson   Charlotte Hounds 17 Boston Cannons 14   Tied up until the end of the third quarter, Charlotte finally took the lead late in the game and outscored the Cannons to grab the win in their second game of the weekend. Mike Chanenchuk’s three points in the final quarter led the team to victory. Coca-Cola Player of the Game: Mike Chanenchuk   Rochester Rattlers 18 Chesapeake Bayhawks 8   The Rattlers exploded in the fourth quarter with an eight goal run which secured the victory over the Bayhawks. Jesse King had a huge day with six goals while eight other players also contributed goals in the win. Coca-Cola Player of the Game: Jesse King   Florida Launch 19 Denver Outlaws 16   Florida took home their first win of the season this weekend after a three goal victory over the Outlaws. It was a close game throughout but Denver couldn’t overcome Florida’s early 7-3 lead.
