Editor’s Note: due to the stories from last week taking so much time we at FLN got backed up on submitted game results and we apologize for not posting these sooner. We really appreciate those who have volunteered their time and efforts to provide these recaps and as we continue to grow as a web site we will strive even more to ensure this doesn’t happen in the future!

Midfielder Rachel Humphrey scored five goals, including the only two goals of overtime, to lift Fleming Island to a 13-11 victory over visiting Gainesville High Tuesday night.
Neither team scored in the first three-minute overtime period. A Gainesville foul on the Golden Eagles’ first possession of the second extra stanza set Humphrey up for a run at the goal from eight yards away, and when play resumed she raced toward the crease and fired a bounce shot that found the net before any Purple Hurricanes defender could interfere. After a clutch save by Fleming Island goaltender Julie Waters preserved the hosts’ lead, Humphrey sealed the outcome with another running drive, this one low to the left corner, with 31 seconds remaining.
The Golden Eagles received four goals from Kelly Beach and two from Morgan Duval. Lori Beaird and Lizzie LaVangie rounded out the scoring for the hosts, who improve to 10-3.
Lily Jones scored six goals for Gainesville, including a high shot over Waters’ shoulder to tie the score with 0:37 remaining. The hard luck Hurricanes, who are now 0-4 in overtime games this season, fall to 6-7 overall.
