All-American Bennett Osterink Makes the Mastro Subaru Play of the Week

Mastro Banner   Wow what a week! We are only hours away from the first round of the State Tournament and here I am laboring away watching some of the best plays from around the state before I have to go watch more great lacrosse tonight.  Plus I’ve been talking and writing about lacrosse all day.  Hey, it’s a tough job but somebody has to do it! I’m thrilled to get a Play of the Week submission form one of the ladies! Stanton Prep won it’s district championship in thrilling fashion coming back from a four goal half time deficit to top Episcopal.  One of those goals was this great caused turnover and shot from outside the 8M by Hannah Carolan.   If you’ve been reading our previews or listened to our most recent Pod Cast then you know we are fans of Apopka’s play making face-off man, Big Caleb Hippensteel.   If you’re wondering why check out this clip of the opening face off of the District Championship game.  Nothing like a goal :06 into the game to get things started and Apopka went on to win their first ever District Championship.   We have also covered the emergence of the game up in the Pan Handle.  Here’s a great example of the kind of excellent talent the Pensacola area is producing as sophomore Noah Haas (#19) splits the double, draws the slide, and finds senior TJ Durst on the crease.  Gulf Breeze went on to win the first ever District Championship for the new District 1. We never get tired of seeing a d-pole go coast to coast and finish with a great shot on the run.   This time it’s STA’s Brody Speno going end to end against Jupiter.  We love the roll back to the inside….NO! move along the sidelines.  Nice. And the winner is….Bennett Osterink with a tough play against Lake Mary.  In a tight game against the Rams he fights for the ground ball and then goes through the crowd before burying the lefty  top shelf to bring Seminole within two. Congrats to newly crowned Bennett Osterink for his great play and thanks to everyone who sent in a submission!   It’s playoff time so get out there and make a great play for your team tonight and then send it to us!  Click right here
