Allegra Catalano, who plays attack for her club team, Florida Select Lacrosse, has verbally committed to the University of Louisville. She is a sophomore at American Heritage Boca/Delray.
“I am excited to say, that I will be a future Cardinal at the University of Louisville. I love everything Louisville has to offer, both in academics and their lacrosse program. It has always been my dream to play lacrosse at the highest level, for a Division 1 school. Coach Kellie Young, Assistant Coaches Vicki Latino and Ginny Capicchioni, have now given me the opportunity to fulfill my dream, and I can not thank them enough.
I would like to thank Coach Joe Cerasuolo and Coach Dave Blouin in Wellington, for teaching me the fundamentals of lacrosse many years ago. I haven’t forgotten you.
I would also like to thank my current coaches at Florida Select Lacrosse, Rich Mullen, for your great sense of humor, and the many hours spent on getting me to this level of play. John McClain, who is also my high school coach, and “Coach of the Year”, at American Heritage. It is a honor to play lacrosse at the best high school in the area. Lastly Rob Wurzburger, who took a chance on me, and invited me to play on a very talented team, with the best group of girls, I could ever ask for. You have helped me achieve my dream, through your undying love, and vast knowledge of the game. I could not have made this a reality without you!
I would also like to thank my trainer, Preston Baez at Athlete’s Advantage in Wellington, my cousin Katie Armbruster, who is in the National Guard, and Lindsey Steeprock from the Seneca Nation in N.Y. for all helping me get into shape for the many tournaments and camps I attended.
Lastly, I would like to thank my family. My Mom and Dad, through their love and support, who were always seeking out the best coaches, to get me at the level of play I needed to be at, and my sister, who inspired me to play when I was six years old, by watching her play lacrosse in rec and high school. I am truly blessed. GO CARDS!!”
