Ave Maria University Women’s Lacrosse Releases Inaugural Schedule

  FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE   AMU Women’s Lacrosse Releases Inaugural Schedule 1/28/15   AVE MARIA, Fla. –  AMU Women’s Lacrosse Coach Kelly Buikus has announced the 2015 season schedule for the Lady Gyrenes, a slate that features three home dates and three NWLL (National Women’s Lacrosse League) teams that competed in the National Championship tournament. In AMU lacrosse’s inaugural campaign, the team will face opponents from six different states. Seven of their 11 games will be against NWLL opponents. They will also face three NCAA Division II teams, and one NCAA Division III team. The Blue and Green will be tested early on in the season when they face Florida Tech in their first game in Melbourne, Fla. on February 21st. “Florida Tech will be a real test for us.  They are well coached, and I see them playing a fast paced, and aggressive game”, states Buikus In their home opener, they will face a veteran team in Davenport who finished the season with a 16-4 record and a fourth place finish in the NWLL championship. AMU will play four games on their spring break in Georgia.  They will also play one game at Disney’s Wide World of Sports. “We are really excited to play at Disney! It’s a great place to play lacrosse and such a great opportunity – especially in our first season”, said Buikus. AMU will end their regular season in Savannah, Ga. where they will play conference opponent SCAD and St. Andrews. The Regional championships will be played either at Ave Maria University or SCAD on Saturday, April 18. The National Tournament will be played on the campus of Lindenwood- Belleville, April 23-25 in Belleville, Ill.
