Despite what many had predicted, the Boone vs. Trinity Prep contest turned out to be a game. Boone jumped out first and scored 2 goals in the first 5 minutes of the game.  But 24 seconds later Sophomore Luke Macchia intercepted a clearing pass and scored his first of the night to close the gap to one. At 9:51 into the first quarter John Kissick scored his second goal of the game to make it 3-1.  Sophomore Attack Christian Funk answered for Trinity Prep with 10 seconds left in the quarter to get the Saints back to within one and let everyone know that Trinity intended to stick around.

Andrew Conley scored for Boone just 38 seconds into the second frame but Junior Dylan Davis took the ensuing face off down and scored in just under 7 seconds for Trinity to get the spread back to one again.  Luke Macchia would score on another busted clear for the Saints and Dylan Davis added two more in the second and Boone got two more goals from Charles Collins and one from Bret Buch to end the first half of play 7-6. The third quarter was all Boone.  Boone scored on the opening face- off of the half and Trinity answered back 1:34 later.  Boone then scored four straight goals when their transition game started to kick in and the Saints defenders began to wear down.  They held the Trinity Prep offense at bay for over six minutes of play getting their lead up to 12-7 before the Saints scored again to bring it to 12-8.  Boone would then answer with three more to make it 15 to 8 to close the third quarter. Neither team could find the goal for the first 9:24 of the fourth quarter when Boone would score their 16th and final goal.  Trinity would answer back with Christian Funk and Dylan Davis both adding one more to close the gap to 6, scoring the last two 21 seconds apart.  But it was too little too late to make up for a poor third quarter for the Saints. Andrew Conley led the Braves in scoring with 5 goals and 4 assists.  Bill McClellan scored twice and added 3 assists.  John Kissick and Charles Collins each had three goals and an assist.  Brett Buch scored twice, Chris Chavez scored 1 goal and Trey Muniz picked up an assist. Reid Gill played a tremendous game in the goal for the Saints making 11 first half saves and 16 overall.  Dylan Davis led the scoring with 5 goals and 1 assist.  Christian Funk scored three times and recorded 2 assists.  Luke Macchia had 2 goals and 2 assists.  Tom Huffsmith and Jon Wiese each picked up 6 ground balls on defense and combined for 7 forced turnovers.  Dylan Davis and Nick Cardamone combined to win 21 of 29 face-offs for the Saints. The Saints (3-4) will face a must win situation against Lake Nona (2-5) on Thursday to assure themselves a place in the post-season tournament.  The Boone Braves (6-1) will travel to Lake Howell on Thursday.
