JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville University will not extend the contract of men’s lacrosse coach Guy Van Arsdale, Director of Athletics Alex Ricker-Gilbert announced Monday.
“We are very appreciative of Coach Van Arsdale’s contributions to our program and the University, however, I believe the program needs to move in a different direction,” Ricker-Gilbert said.
The Dolphins ended their season Saturday with an 11-6 loss to nationally-ranked Air Force.
Van Arsdale finished his fifth season with an overall record of 25-39. The team won the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference championship in 2013 when the Dolphins set a program single-season record with eight wins.
Ricker-Gilbert said the school will conduct a national search and assistant coach Alex Lopes has been named acting head coach.
