Columbus Catholic’s Gregory Valerius Intercepts the Clear and Scores OT Winner for Mastro Subaru Play of the Week

We received some great plays this week but managed to whittle it down to the top three.
First up, anyone who has played against Hagerty goalie Tanner Ward knows just how hard he can be to score on. In a tight game, Jesuit’s Joe McGonnigal managed to get one past him and it proved to be the game winner.
Nearly all of the highlights we get are goals. Game winners, OT winners, BTB’s, all sorts of goals….and we love them. But I’m pretty sure Spencer Dobkin doesn’t like them much at all. Spencer plays goalie for Boca, so he sees the world a little differently. He makes some great plays that result in “no goal!” Check this out.
The Columbus Catholic Explorers hosted the University School Sharks on Senior Night. After scoring 2 goals in the final 2 minutes, Columbus forced overtime with the score tied 9-9. A minute into overtime, University regained possession and called timeout to set up their clear (allowing Columbus to set up their ride). Sophomore LSM/D #38 Gregory Valerius picked off a University School pass and then scored the game-winning goal to put Columbus over University 10-9 and ended up making the Mastro Subaru Play of the Week!
We encourage you to go out there and make a great play for your team this week and then send it into us at http://fln.mattplu.com/mastro-subaru-play-of-the-week/
