Coral Springs’ Brad Fretti Named Captain at Florida Southern for 2013 Season

LAKELAND – With the 2013 season fast approaching, the men’s lacrosse team at Florida Southern has announced their team captains for the upcoming season. Those captains are; senior Corey Brown (Clayton, New York), junior Brad Gysin (Noblesville, Ind.), junior Brad Fretti (Coral Springs, Fla.) and junior Chris Murphy (Camillus, New York). These four players, who have all been a part of back-to-back appearances in the Deep South Conference Championship, will step into their captain roles for the first time as a Moccasin. Brown, a senior attackman, played in 11 games last season while starting in two. He scored two goals on the season and picked up seven ground balls. Including his 11 games last season, Brown has played in a career total of 39 games for the Mocs and has started a total of 30 games. In 2011 he was named to the DSC All-Tournament Team for his performance during the tournament. Gysin, a junior defenseman, played in 15 games last season starting six. During those 15 games he picked up four ground balls. Over the last two seasons, Gysin has played in a total of 27 games while starting in 14 of them. Fretti, a junior long stick midfielder, has started in 27 games for the Mocs over the past two seasons. He tallied 34 ground balls during the 2012 season and scored one goal. Murphy, a junior a midfielder, played in 14 games for the Mocs last season, adding to the 10 he played as a freshman. He scored five goals on the 2012 season and assisted on another. Murphy also picked up eight ground balls on the season. The 2013 season will open up Feb. 8 for the Mocs as conference rival Tampa comes to town. The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start time at Bryant Stadium. On Jan. 26 the Mocs will compete against the University of South Florida in an exhibition game at Bryant Stadium; scheduled start time for the exhibition is noon.
