Despite a fast start by Maclay, Creekside held on for a 12-8 win against the visiting Marauder’s of Maclay on Friday night. Maclay started hot early behind several faceoff wins by Maclay’s Tucker Schwarz (1 goal, 1 assist; Merrimack), and finishes by both Stephen Chase (3 goals on the night) and Tripp Transou (3 goals, 2 assists; Duke). Lewis Langford also scored his first career varsity goal after a lefty redodge, allowing Maclay to go up 4-1 in the first. Creekside stayed the course and began to slow chip away, eventually leading at halftime by the score of 8-6. Creekside took advantage of a few slow-recovery and rebound opportunities after initial dodges. Maclay began the second half man-down, and in the final seconds, Creekside finished on a goal by Nick Eccher, going up 9-6. Maclay continually tried to come back, but spent much of the third quarter on defense. Several false-starts on faceoffs and a questionable 1-minute slash penalty on Teddy Transou (Duke) allowed Creekside to open up to an 11-7 lead heading into the fourth quarter. Creekside maintained their lead behind great goalie play from Matt Jorgerson (Minnesota) and ground ball play on the inside after an onslaught of shots during the fourth quarter by Maclay. Maclay goalie Connor Lamba made 14 stops on the night. For Creekside Nick Nick Eccher finished with  3 goals, 3 assists.  Ryan Jennis added 2 goals, 2 assists, Kevin McKernan 2 goals, 2 assists, Gian Noto 2 Goals, 2 Assists, Anthony Teixeira 2 goals, Robert Foster 1 goal.  Goalie Matt Jorgensen recorded 12 saves on the night. Maclay continues with Bolles, before beginning Tallahassee-city play on Tuesday February 26th against Chiles. Creekside continues with Leon, then traveling to Bolles on February 26th for an expected fast-paced and athletic match-up.
