OCEAN CITY, Md. – Three returning Jacksonville University women’s lacrosse players played pivotal roles in helping their Cybercore team to the largest, most competitive elite women’s tournament title in the country. Seniors Brit Orashen, Jess Worcester and Tori Seitz (co-captain of the team) combined with players from other schools and two JU alumni to propel the team to victory.
Seitz, who has helped organize the team for two years (Cybercore made it to the semi-finals in 2013), scored a key goal in the finals for the 1-goal come from behind win.
“When I started this team payday loans lenders only last year I never thought we would win the championship in just two years of playing together,” Seitz said. “Our entire team was very competitive which helped us go all the way. Cybercore has been very generous and we are thankful to have them as out sponsor.”
Orashen and Worcester, Dolphin midfielders, combined forces with JU alumnus Ellyn Spangenberg (class of 2013) on a powerful, fast and possession oriented midfield line. Worcester led the team in draw controls, including several in the second half of the championship game.
JU class of 2014 member Kelly Baisey played as a defender on the team, giving Jacksonville five current or former players on the 15-woman roster. 2014 Syracuse graduate Alyssa Murray earned team MVP honors for Cybercore.
