JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville University head men’s lacrosse coach Guy Van Arsdale has announced the addition of David Streeten to his staff. Streeten will begin his first year at JU after spending time coaching at Greensboro College, Queens University of Charlotte and Elmira College. A former lacrosse player at Binghamton University, he excelled as a face-off man for the Bearcats until injuries forced him to the sidelines. He spent two years as a volunteer assistant with Binghamton before graduating in 2008. “We’re very happy to have David join us here in the JU family,” said Van Arsdale. “He brings a wealth of experience and a tremendous work ethic. We know he will have an immediate and significant impact on our program.” Working last season at Greensboro College, Streeten was vital in instituting new offensive schemes and formations. While his main in-game responsibilities were with the face-off men and running the substitution box, he took over the man-up offense over the final six games of the season and more than doubled their success rate prior to that time. Streeten spent the 2011-12 school year at Queens University of Charlotte as an assistant coach. While with the Royals, much of his time was devoted to the midfield and goalkeeper positions. With his guidance, Queens had a player rank in the top-20 of Division II in face-off win percentage, as well as a goalkeeper who was in the top-25 in goals against average, saves per game and save percentage. In 2010-2011, Streeten was a volunteer assistant at Elmira College in New York. Again focusing primarily on the midfield and goalkeeper spots, the Soaring Eagles had their goalkeeper rank 13th in Division III in saves per game. Before being forced to the sidelines at Binghamton, Streeten was a force in the America East Conference as a face-off man for the Bearcats. He ranks in the top-three in Binghamton program history in face-off percentage, face-offs won and face-offs taken. After graduating with an English degree with a Creative Writing concentration, he spent time at Inside Lacrosse Magazine as an editorial intern and freelance journalist before entering the coaching profession.
