florida lacrosse classicEver wonder why youth lacrosse is so strong in South Florida?  Look no farther than the visionaries who started the South Florida Youth Lacrosse League www.sfyll.com and created a masters tournament to help fund the costs. All-Americans, world team members and middle-age spring breakers who were robbed of the traditional college trip to Florida because they were in season back in the day are gathering in Weston this weekend for fun and fundraising. Over 100 games are on tap and the full schedule (which continues through Sunday) and directions are on the tournament website, www.floridalaxclassic.com.  Run by the Florida Youth Lacrosse Foundation, a 501c3 non-profit corporation, the tournament helps support the recreational teams many know well, names such as the Boca Jets, Weston Warriors, Davie Broncos, Delray Beach Riptide, JTAA Tide, Parkland Redhawks and more. We urge you to go check out the action, buy some gear and support youth lacrosse in South Florida.  Chances are if you are reading this article, you have this organization to thank in some way. Tournament /Foundation directors include Rich Barba, Kelly Burnett, Brian and Don Clinton, Pete Dunne, Gary Fuchs, Don Goldstein, Jim Landon, Bill Leahy, Pat Lebowitz, Greg Lymber and Gary Smith.  In addition, there are many volunteers whose names seem to always go unmentioned and we thank you, too. Enjoy the photos.  Maybe you will recognize a legend or two! scottletter 001   fllaxclassic red statesmen fllaxclassic 1 flalaxclassictent flalaxclassicstatesmenflalaxclassicshot flalaxclassicsave flalaxclassicrustyredc flalaxclassicplayers flalaxclassichoopers1flalaxclassichold flalaxclassicgoldhelmetflalaxclassicfinnandfriendsflalaxclassicfriends flalaxclassicfogo flalaxclassicembrace flalaxclassicaction flalaxclassic39 flalaxclassic8 flalaxclassic4 flalaxclassic3 flalaxclassic 2
