From JUDolphins.com JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Five Jacksonville University players scored two goals each as the Dolphins rolled to their third consecutive win, 16-2, over UMass Lowell at D.B. Milne Field Wednesday. Ashtyn Hiron, Rachel Aus, Taylor McCord, Hannah Wilcox and Kelsey Wiglesworth all had doubles as 11 players in total scored for the Dolphins. JU (3-3) got off to a 7-1 lead through the first half before adding nine more scores in the second. Aus, a junior attack from Annapolis, Md., got the Dolphins off and running with an unassisted goal with 25:34 to play in the first. The River Hawks (1-6) tied at one before JU scored 13 unanswered goals. Aus and Hiron each had assists for the Dolphins. Hiron, from Perth, Western Australia, had four ground balls on the day and Caitlin McMahon had five draw controls. “UMass Lowell is a much improved team, super scrappy and physical,” assistant coach Paul McCord said. “Their goalie (sophomore Courtney Barrett) played fantiastic in the first half and frustrated our shooters who took 27 shots. Our defense and goalies were equal to the task allowing just two goals on 13 shots.” McCord said his team adjusted well as the game went on. “They threw a lot of new stuff at us and I am proud of our players for adjusting,” he said. “We had some nice play off the bench, but what was crucial for us was our team’s tempo. They took away our passing game by not sliding and we had to become more of a dodging team.” The Dolphins return to action Saturday at 4 p.m. against Iona at D. B. Milne Field.
