Eastside Lacrosse Mourns the Loss of Alumnus Landon Rogers

On Thursday, November 19th former Eastside High School (Gainesville) lacrosse standout Landon Rogers died suddenly at the University of Florida. Landon was a freshman at UF and was completing an Air Force ROTC training exercise when he collapsed. The cause of his death is unknown.
Landon was a two-time captain and leading scorer for the Eastside Rams and achieved All Area honors three years in a row. An A student, Landon also played football, was a member of the band and was actively involved in various school, church, and community organizations. The Gainesville community has lost an outstanding individual.
Landon was known and loved by many; he had a positive disposition and treated everyone with kindness and respect. He made a difference and the Florida lacrosse community has lost a special young man.
Landon Rogers is the second Eastside athlete to pass away suddenly. Sarah Landauer, another outstanding Eastside athlete collapsed and died suddenly in 2011. Both athletes were known for their exceptional athletic ability, strong faith and smiles that would light up a room. The annual SMiLe Lacrosse Tournament hosted by Eastside High School was named in honor of Sarah. The Tournament is now renamed the Landon Rogers SMiLe Tournament.
