Ferrino Makes 21 Saves but Lynn Men’s Lacrosse Falls in SSC Opener

Winter Park, Fla.- Lynn University’s men’s lacrosse team opened Sunshine State Conference play with a 15-3 loss to Rollins (5-3) on Wednesday night at Cahall Sandspur Field in the Barker Family Stadium on the campus of Rollins College. Taylor Ferrino stopped 21 shots in between the pipes to match his career-high for the Blue & white. Lynn falls t0 1-5 overall and 0-1 in the SSC. Brian Kiel scored at 13:56 to give the Fighting Knights a 1-0 lead. Chase Ostermann had his first career assist for the Blue & White. Rollins would score twice before the end of the quarter to hold a 2-1 advantage after the first 15:00 minutes of play. Rollins scored four unanswered goals to open the second quarter before Chris D’Angelo passed to Harrison Lynch who ripped a shot past the Tars goalkeeper from 17 yards out to cut Lynn’s deficit to four. Jack Denver scored an unassisted goal for RC with 5:23 on the clock to hold on to ta 7-2 halftime lead. In the third quarter, the Tars scored two more goals while holding Lynn to just five shots. Rollins tacked on six goals in the final frame while Lynn’s Joey Bacarella scored, unassisted, with 7:43 remaining in regulation. Jack Denver and Nicholas Schultz scored four goals apiece in the win while six other players notched at least one goal. Vincent Genovesi won 60 percent of his face offs while Ferrino had a team-high seven ground balls. The Fighting Knights return to action on the road at Saint Leo on Saturday, March 22.
