District 32
Miami Palmetto swept the district last season and finished 8-4 overall, going 8-0 in district. They won the district final over Coral Reef before falling to Columbus Catholic in the first round of the brackets. The out-of-conference games against the strong District 31 showed Miami Palmetto was a pretty good team. Two goal road loss to Belen Jesuit. One goal road loss to Gulliver and a two goal road loss to CC.
Head Coach Robert Murray has added University and Ransom to the schedule. This is the 35th year of lacrosse at the school and he noted the following: “As winners of the last 2 district championships we know everyone in our district will be giving us their best shot. What’s important for us is to stay level headed and not look ahead, stay focused and handle 1 game at a time and treating each district opponent as if it’s the biggest game of the year.
Our top player Conner Berg (Senior) is an extremely fundamentally sound defenseman who will lead the defense and draw the toughest match up each game. He will be joined by fellow Senior Briland Hayes, who is very physical and aggressive. On Attack we have the QB of our offense with Chris Calderin (Senior) who is a very flashy attackman that can see the whole field, he is supported by Jacob Beiley and Tristian Sanchez (both Juniors) to round out the attack. At Midfield for us it is all about speed, speed, speed. Gaby Diaz (Senior) leads the way as an extremely athletic middie along with Juan Restrepo (junior) and Tito Bohrani (junior).”
Coral Reef went 7-7 overall and 3-3 in district, losing in the finals. Brian Cowan looks to lead the team one step further this season.

Coral Shores finished last season with a 4-7 record and 3-2 in district. The schedule was pretty tough and most of the tougher games were played on the road. CC and Belen pay a visit this season. The coaching staff wrote the following: “Coral Shores fields a relatively young squad this year and will be looking for big things from a veteran defense that includes goalkeeper Sam Kraus and defenders Brian Gonzalez, Juan Mayo and Darren Govan.
Palmetto is the best team in our district, great coaching and great kids.
Our kids have done a lot of great community service work in the Keys with the Upper Keys Foundation. They’re also very happy to have volunteered in a few clinics down south to help Key West get their program off the ground.”
Palmer Trinity went 6-9 last season and Coach Chris Galgano would like to channel the history of the program to help lead it forward. Not many lacrosse fans in the state know that Palmer Trinity actually won a Florida state championship under current Lake Mary head coach Garrick Robinson; it would be good to see the program start to trend back to those glory years!
Westminster Christian and Miami-Killian round out the district. Westminster is basically a new program and Miami-Killian is a program in search of improvement, having gone 1-6 last season.
