District 13 is a two horse race between Dr. Phillips and The First Academy. Dr. Phillips won both match ups last season including the district championship game. They’ll be leaning on senior goalie, Jason Rodriguez, to lead the defense this season.  Coach Charlie Battaglia is impressed with the work he has done in the offseason.  Jason Sullivan (Clevland State), a junior and a three year starter looks to continue success from previous years.  Of course, opposing defenses will have to solve the problem of Mikey Berkman (Syracuse.)  The sophomore attackman  broke the school assist record his freshman year and is not doubt looking to build off a great season. The First Academy may have come up short in the district championship, but the Saints had a good 2015 going 11-5 on the season.  Coach David Oliver graduated a big class of thirteen seniors.  He likes the group he has coming up but is aware there is always work to do with a young group.  ” We  need to develop physically and team chemistry with the new group.” Three of the thirteen graduates are still playing.  Austin Cotton (FGCU,) Julian Edwards (Hampton,) and Fletcher Fair (Auburn.) Tylor Rapport, a junior LSM, maybe a young guy but he is already a two year starter.  An up and comer to watch for is sophomore attackman Brennan Fountain. Freedom, Olympia, Windermere Prep, and Celebration round out this district. Back to main preview page
