(Women’s Lacrosse) – Florida Tech (7-6, 1-1 SSC) faces what could be its toughest challenge of the season when it welcomes Florida Southern (17-2, 3-0 SSC) to Palm Bay High School’s Pirate Stadium on Saturday for a 1 p.m. ET start time. It’s also Senior Day for the Panthers and the team will honor two student-athletes, Jenni Juliano and Katie Reid, prior to the opening draw. FIT made history last Saturday, winning the program’s first-ever Sunshine State Conference over Tampa 20-10 in Tampa, Florida. The Spartans scored the first goal, but the Panthers pounced back with 10 consecutive goals en route to a 10-3 halftime lead. Tampa cut the deficit to five early in the second half, but Florida Tech fired in eight of the next 11 scores to earn its seventh victory of the season. Freshman Caroline Dunleavy paced FIT with a season-high nine points on three goals and six assists while fellow freshman Sara Grenier added six goals and one assist in the win. Sophomore Heather Roache finished with four goals and classmate Allie Modica recorded two goals and one assist. Freshman Mary Gormley had a team-high six draw controls to go along with her two goals. Florida Southern is riding an eight-game win streak after defeating Tampa 22-7 on Wednesday. The Mocs’ streak began after their 9-8 loss to No. 3 Lindenwood on March 20 and includes victories over No. 9 Rollins (15-8) and No. 11 Limestone (10-9 4OT). Florida Southern is led by two of the nation’s top players, Megan Asper and Caitlin Chase, who are both tied for second in Division II in total points this season. Asper has accumulated 82 points this season and her 59 goals are tops in the country. Chase, like her teammate, has recorded 82 points and leads the nation with 52 assists this season.   Live video, audio and stats for the Panthers’ matchup with the Mocs will be available at FloridaTechSports.com/live.   Live Video, Audio and Stats: http://www.floridatechsports.com/live 2015 Schedule: http://www.floridatechsports.com/wlacrosse/schedule/ 2015 Roster: http://www.floridatechsports.com/wlacrosse/roster/   Daniel Supraner Assistant Director of Athletic Communications Florida Tech Athletics 150 W.
