Fleming Island trailed Chiles 7-4 with about a 1:30 left in the 4th quarter when Will Yarborough scored to pull the Golden Eagles within two goals. Chiles slashed Yarborough on the goal and Fleming Island went man-up. Josh Gracia controlled the ensuing face-off and quickly delivered to ball into the offensive zone.  Devan Marquis dodged off the left wing and found the back of the goal for his second tally of the night to draw the Golden Eagles within one with about 40 seconds left in the game. The next face-off was won by Chiles, but FIHS forced a turnover with less than 20 second left. Off of the turnover, Hayden La Vangie fielded a long clearing pass from Cody Worthy to set the table for FIHS as they took their last timeout. With less than 10 seconds left in the game, Hayden La Vangie dodged from the right wing and hit paydirt to tie the game at 7-7 with 5 seconds remaining. In the OT, the Golden Eaglse won the face-off behind Sam Barrington but failed to score. Chiles then went man-up in the extra frame, but was thwarted by an excellent save by Cody Worthy that lead to a great clear and final possession by FIHS. The ball worked around the perimeter and found its way into Devan Marquis’ stick at the left GLE. Marquis’ dodge caused the defender to slip, fall, and allow Marquis to put the winning goal in the net. The Golden Eagles improve to 8-2 on the season and will face Paxon and Nease to finish the season. Chiles travels to Pensacola (0-6) tonight.
