Author’s Note:  Hard to believe but the Launch open their fourth season on Sunday with a home game in Deland, Florida!  We’ll be catching up on the team this weekend as we look forward to a new era in the franchise.

  The Florida Launch have finalized the 25-man roster ahead of the 2017 Major League Lacrosse season. The Launch will open the season Sunday, April 23 at Spec Martin Stadium in DeLand, Fla. against the Boston Cannons. This offseason, Launch coach Tom Mariano set out to build a roster of competitive and motivated players. “Each year is a different team, it’s a different identity, it’s a different path, it’s a different vision and I think for us going forward for 2017 we want to play as one unit, one locker room, one team that is committed to being the best in everything we do,” said Mariano. “Competing in every aspect is the biggest thing. We will play a tough, hard-nosed style of lacrosse.” The latest addition to the roster is defenseman Jason Crane. Crane was acquired earlier this week in a trade with the Chesapeake Bayhawks in exchange for an eighth round draft pick. Other notable offseason additions include Brown University alumni Chazz Woodson and Will Gural. Woodson, a two-time MLL All-Star and human highlight reel, signed with the Launch after not appearing in a professional game since 2014. Gural, a dominant faceoff specialist in college, was selected by the Launch with the first overall pick in the supplemental draft.
