We got a lot of shots, I think if you go back and look at the tape, we had a lot of quality shots,” said acting head coach Brian Duncan, “It just happened to be that that goalie was on fire. Kaut played great, they just happened to get a few more by.” Denver struck early in the first quarter, dominating with three unanswered goals from Matt Kavanagh and Michael Bocklet. The second quarter proved to be stronger for the Launch, who tallied five goals from Jimmy Dailey, Martin Bowes, Connor Buczek, Chazz Woodson, and Steven Brooks.
Struggling to find the back of the net, the Launch fought to hold off the Outlaws in the third quarter. Despite a strong showing by Florida’s Austin Kaut, Denver managed a three-goal scoring run that would put them up 13-5 moving into the final quarter. “I can speak from the offensive, we’ve got to work on being on the same page,” said Connor Buczek, who tallied 2 goals and 1 assist, “I don’t think we played as well fluidly as a unit as we would’ve liked to. We played a lot of individual ball, forcing the ball inside.” Though the Launch entered the fourth with energy, starting off the period with a three-goal run, they could not hold off the Outlaws long enough to close the gap. The Launch slip to 1-2 on the season.
