Florida Select Takes 2018 Division Title at Sand Storm Lacrosse Festival!

Thanks to Lisa Mullen for this report!   Delray Beach Girls Undefeated in Six Games at Palm Springs, CA Tournament Delray Beach, FL (January, 2017) — Florida Select stormed their opponents to take the title in the 2018 division at Sand Storm Lacrosse Festival January 14-15. 197 girls club teams from around the country converged at the famed Empire Polo Club in Palm Springs for the two-day tournament. Florida Select was victorious in all six matchups in the 2018 division. Teams defeated included last year’s champs, Tenacity Bay Area 18 Blue (10-2). Florida Select also dominated against Colorado’s Team 180 Yellow (12-4), X-Team 2018 (19-3), Pacific Falcons 18 (11-2), TreeLax 18 (17-1) and True National (12-1).     108 college coaches were registered for the event that showcased teams from around the country and one team from Hong Kong. Girls divisions included HS Open/2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024. “The girls played well and elevated their game to a new level,” noted head coach Rob Wurzburger. “It’s evident what 50+ practices in a few months can accomplish at the team level.” Florida Select is a club team of 15 freshman, sophomore and junior girls from the Boca Raton or Delray Beach area. Ten of the girls are verbally committed to play lacrosse for DI or DII colleges. Florida Select is already looking ahead to June, where the team will look to win another title at the Sunshine State Games in Parkland, Florida. They will then travel to lacrosse’s hotbeds of Pennsylvania, Virginia and Maryland to play in the Summer Genesis, Champions Cup and Mid Atlantic lacrosse tournaments.
