Florida Southern Stays Put While Rollins Shifts in Women’s Lacrosse Rankings

MELBOURNE, Fla. – Florida Southern College and Rollins College represent the Sunshine State Conference in the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Top-20 Poll and the Nike / Lacrosse Magazine Top-15 Poll. The polls were released on Monday, May 2nd. Florida Southern stays put at No. 3 in both the Nike/LM and the IWLCA polls. FSC hosted the University of Tampa in the semifinals of the 2016 SSC Women’s Lacrosse Championship Tournament and defeated the Spartans (19-10). The Moccasins defeated Rollins (12-11) to claim the second ever SSC Women’s Lacrosse Championship title. Florida Southern will wait till the NCAA announces the teams for the regional tournaments. Florida Southern now owns an overall record of 16-3 and 4-0 in SSC play.

Rollins remains No. 4 in the IWLCA Coaches’ Poll and dropped down to No. 7 in the Nike/LM poll after going 1-1 last week. The Tars defeated Florida Tech (15-14) in the first round of the SSC Women’s Lacrosse tournament in Lakeland, Florida. In the championship game, Rollins fell to host Florida Southern (12-11). The Tars will now wait till the NCAA announces the teams for the regional tournaments.
