MELBOURNE, Fla. – Florida Southern sophomore Cody Dyer was named the Sunshine State Conference men’s lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week, announced by the conference office on Monday.
Dyer led the Moccasins (6-7, 2-2 SSC) with four goals in their 11-10 victory over Saint Leo on Saturday. The product of Slingerlands, N.Y., also took good care of the ball, finishing without a turnover for the fifth consecutive game.
The award is the first of Dyer’s career from the SSC and the first Offensive Player of the Week selection from FSC this season. Fellow sophomore Andrew Fisher (Monkton, Md.) won back-to-back Defensive Player of the Week awards on March 16 and 23 for his faceoff prowess.
Dyer leads the Mocs with 20 assists, and sits second on the team in both points and goals with 51 and 31, respectively. He has seven multi-goal games and has scored at least one point in all 13 games this season.
Florida Southern will visit Florida Tech (10-2, 2-1 SSC) for its regular-season finale on Saturday, April 11 at 7 p.m. as the Mocs fight for a spot in the SSC Tournament. They currently sit fourth in the league standings and hold the final spot in the postseason tournament.
