Former Vero Star Abby Shields Wins Atlantic Sun Offensive Player of the Week!

via press release   MACON, Ga. – Furman’s Abby Shields led the Paladins to two conference victories last week to earn her first career Atlantic Sun Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Week award, while Mercer’s Haleigh Wurzel recorded a new season-high save percentage to pick up the Defensive Player of the Week award, announced by the league office on Tuesday. Atlantic Sun Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Week – Apr. 12th Abby Shields, Furman Freshman | Midfield Vero Beach, Fla. – First Career A-Sun Player of the Week award; second Paladin to win weekly honors this season – Combined for 11 total points helping Paladins win two conference games last week – Scored a hat trick to open the week in win over Central Michigan – Added two goals and season-high five assists in 14-12 win over Detroit – Totaled eight shots, seven of them going on target for 87.5 shot-on-goal percentage – Added three draw controls and two caused turnovers on defense for Paladins Other Nominees: Jocelyne Lemay, Central Michigan; Kaitlyn Wandelt, Detroit; Taylor McCord, Jacksonville; Erica Coyne, Mercer; Morgan Marrale, Old Dominion; Lindsay Summers, Stetson.
