FSC Sweeps Women’s Player of the Week Awards Again

MELBOURNE, Fla. – For the second consecutive week and the third time this season, Florida Southern swept the Sunshine State Conference women’s lacrosse Player of the Week Awards, announced Monday by the conference office.
Senior midfielder Megan Asper was named this week’s Offensive Player of the Week and redshirt freshman goalkeeper Ashley Seborowski was crowned the Defensive Player of the Week.
The award is Asper’s second consecutive and third of the season. She scored a hat trick with a pair of assists for five points in a 19-4 win at Erskine on Friday to open the Moccasins’ two-game road trip. The Parkton, Md., native then led the way with four goals and two assists in the 10-9 quadruple-overtime win over No. 11 Limestone on Saturday. Asper has now scored a goal in all 16 games this season and has a three or more in 10 contests.
Seborowski earned her fourth Defensive Player of the Week award after a big-time performance against Limestone in quadruple overtime. She held a team that came in averaging over 16 goals per game to only nine in over 82 minutes between the pipes. Originally from Annapolis, Md., Seborowski made eight saves, including a pair of crucial stops in the second, third and fourth overtime periods to extend the game. She also made one save in over 10 minutes of playing time against Erskine. Seborowski is now 12-1 on the season.
Florida Southern (14-2, 1-0 SSC) will host conference foe Saint Leo (7-5, 1-1 SSC) on Tuesday, April 7 at 7 p.m. and Shorter (3-5) on Saturday, April 11 at 1 p.m. to close out the home portion of the 2015 regular season at Bryant Stadium.
