FT Women: Panthers Grapple with Spartans in Key SSC Matchup

FIT looks to get back on track in road test against second-year program Tampa
MELBOURNE, Fla. (Women’s Lacrosse) – Florida Tech (6-6, 0-1 SSC) travels to the University of Tampa (5-9, 0-2 SSC) Saturday for its first Sunshine State Conference road game of the season. The game is set to begin at 7:30 p.m. ET at Pepin Stadium located at the Naimoli Family Athletic and Intramural Complex.
FIT is coming off an 18-6 loss to No. 10 Rollins College on Wednesday night. The Panthers played well in the first half of the contest but the high-powered Tars were flawless in the second period and ran away with the road victory.
Freshman Sara Grenier scored three goals in the loss, while sophomore Allie Modica added two goals and a game-high seven draw controls. Freshman Stephanie Stuart finished with 12 saves in goal for the Panthers.
Tampa enters the matchup with FIT after falling to Saint Leo 15-5 on April 1 in Saint Leo, Florida. The Spartans are on a three-game losing streak after losing to Pfeiffer (16-6) and Lenoir-Rhyne (15-6) in their two previous matchups.
Amanda Voges leads the way for the Spartans with 52 points on 43 goals and nine assists. Natalie Carraway is second on the team with 12 goals and 15 assists.
