I have attended a small private school my entire life and being a part of a larger educational community is one of the things that is very important to me.  I would also prefer a school that offers a large variety of subjects so I can explore different opportunities for my future.  Participating in sports at the college level, in particular Division 1, is very important to me.  I want to continue my lacrosse career and compete at the highest level.   FLN – What camps, teams, or clinics are on your schedule for the rest of the off season? Over the summer I’ve played in 3 college recruiting tournaments with my club team, the Lady Swashbucklers – New England Cup, Champions Cup, and Capital Cup.  I also train 4 times a week in the gym to improve my strength, speed, and endurance. Fall season with my club team will be starting soon and we will be playing in 3 tournaments – Florida Draw, Wishbone Tournament, and President’s Cup.   FLN – How Would You Describe Your Game? Complete, Aggressive, Dominating   FLN – What Was Your First Lacrosse Experience? My first lacrosse experience was watching my brothers, JP and Michael Rius, play throughout their high school career. As soon as I watched the game I knew I wanted to play when I got older.  When I was about 4 years old my brother Michael cut down an old lacrosse stick short enough for me to use and with it I learned to catch and throw with my brothers.  My brother JP was an All-American lacrosse player in high school and was recruited by a Division I University.   Adrian Rius #2   FLN – Who Was Your Biggest Lacrosse Influence? Throughout the years playing lacrosse I have had many coaches and I have learned something new from each one. Out of all my coaches I would have to say Jeff Atkins, my club team coach, has been the most supportive and I have gained more knowledge from him than I ever could have imagined. My family of course was my biggest cheerleader and gave me the confidence to do anything I wanted to accomplish. Another person is my teammate from my club team Emily Kowalik because we stuck together through all the tough times and kept each other going by pushing ourselves to the end, which has paid off greatly.   FLN – Which College/Pro Players Do You Like Watching The Most? I really enjoy watching Maryland’s Taylor Cummings. I love her style of play and how she is an all-around, complete player.   FLN – What Is Your Lacrosse Goal For the 2015 season? This coming season I would really like to show my leadership abilities as the team captain and step up to take a bigger part in our lacrosse program. I want to have the team become closer, get a better record than ever before, and set personal statistic records for myself. Becoming an All American would also be one of my top goals this season.   FLN – What would you like your teammates to say about you? I would like my teammates to say that I am a great leader, hard worker, and a good friend on and off the field.   Favorite Meal:  Sushi Favorite TV Show:  Scandal, Gossip Girl Favorite Sport Besides Lacrosse:  Soccer and Volleyball, I play both of those sports on the Varsity team for my school.   FLN – What is the last song you downloaded?  I downloaded some new songs I heard. I listen to mostly every type of music.   FLN – What celebrity would you most like to meet?  I would most like to meet Blake Lively.   FLN – What Hobby Or Interest Do You Have That Would Surprise People Who Know You?   I love science and am good at math. I enjoy doing science experiments in class – it’s exciting to see how they turn out.
