Great Games Across The State Tonight!

Written by Lee Roggenburg on . Posted in .
There are some big games in every region of the state tonight! BMC vs WS_optNorth Florida Ponte Vedra at Creekside! Both Bartram Trail and Creekside were poised to make a run at the top spot in North Florida this season.  Then PV dominated Bartram Trail who turned around and beat Creekside.  Creekside is a solid team.  Just before the loss to BT they got past a very talented Lake Mary team in overtime.  For Creekside, this is about as big as regular season game can get tonight. Central Florida There are two good Orlando area games on tap tonight. Lake Brantley is heading to Winter Park for a match up of two team who, historically, are among the area’s top programs.  Winter Park seems to be down just a little this year with two losses early in the season.  But they found their footing with a big district win over Oviedo.  Lake Brantley has averaged 16 goals per game and given up an average of 2.6.  That includes an 11-1 thrashing of a pretty good Bishop Moore team.  But never count the Wildcats out of a big game! River Columbus 013_optVero Beach is traveling to Bishop Moore.  BMC’s only loss has come at the hands of Lake Brantley.  They have beaten some good teams like The First Academy, and West Orange.  Vero Beach is 3-0 but were taken to OT by Melbourne Central Catholic.  They then turned right around and beat a very good Wellington team.  This is a great night for one of these teams to decide who they really are.  Someone could establish themselves as a big time contender tonight. South Florida Columbus Catholic at Belen Jesuit. Many believe that the Columbus/ Belen Jesuit rivalry, in any sport, is the best rivalry in Florida high school. This rivalry was put on hold for us lacrosse fans when Columbus was FHSAA and Belen was IA for a few years.  But it is on again! We would like to think that records mean little (Columbus is 3-1 and Belen is 3-3) but Columbus clearly has the upper hand coming into this game.  It is going to be lively no matter what! St. Andrew’s is in Durham tonight to take on St. Anne’s Belfield in the Brine King of Spring Face Off Classic.  This is St. Anne’s Belfield’s season opener and will say quite a bit about how Florida’s top programs shape up against the national powerhouse programs.
