The Spartans really wanted this one as they let the game slip away, leading 8-7 after 3 quarters. Early in the game the Spartans controlled the tempo, slowing the game down and creating opportunities for senior attack man, Brian Hernandez who finished with 6 points, and for Junior Sam Cohen who finished with 3 goals. Gulliver seemed to get away with some high hits in the game and some quick face-offs, yet the difference was the Spartans inability to stop crease big man Jordi Dalmau, who scored off feeds and scrappy loose ball play. The Spartans have a short bench, and when the game picked up in the fourth, Gulliver’s bench depth really was the key, developing a solid transition off some costly unforced errors from the Spartans. MCDS is excited for the weekend in Naples up against Barron Collier and Gulf Coast Friday and Saturday. Seniors David Butter, Aaron Karlton, and Jared Robins, along with Junior attack Jordan Karp rounded out the scoring for the Spartans. Pierce Bailey and Sean Cordero added 9 points between them to lead the Raiders. Raiders look to continue their win streak, facing district 29 matches versus Belen and the Ransom Raiders, who are looking strong early. Thanks to Jake Ryan images
