On a hot and sunny day in Bradenton Florida the Strake Jesuit Crusaders traveled from Houston Texas to do battle with the IMG Ascenders at IMG Academy. IMG started the game off hot as defensive specialist Jared Fernandez caused Strake Jesuit to turn the ball over on their first possession of the game leading to a transition push for the Ascenders resulting in IMG’s first goal of the game. A strong defensive stand in the first quarter by the Ascenders gave the IMG offense a lot of momentum as they were able to score the first three goals of the game off three shots. IMG would follow up a few possessions later scoring two more times before the quarter ended giving the Ascenders a 6-0 lead after the first. Both teams’ defenses would prove formidable as the second half proved to be a battle of defensive possessions as each team’s offense would struggle to find the back of the net. IMG did strike first in the second quarter but Strake Jesuit would answer with two goals of their own. Contrary to the first half which seemed to be a battle between offenses and defense the third quarter was a battle of transition offense between both teams.  Strake Jesuit would keep the momentum going into the third quarter as they drew first blood in the second half but IMG would follow with two of their own goals before the quarter ended giving the Ascenders a 11-6 advantage heading into the fourth quarter. IMG would open the quarter with a quick goal off of their first possession but Strake Jesuit answered with their own goal a few possessions later.  Both defenses hunkered down and was able to fend off both team’s offensive attacks for a majority of the fourth quarter but a strong effort from IMG’s bench was able to two more times before time ran out giving IMG the 14-7 victory over visiting Strake Jesuit. The victory improves IMG’s record to 11-1 as well as increases their win streak to 9 games and the loss gives the visiting Strake Jesuit Crusaders their sixth loss of the season resulting in a 1-6 record. IMG is back in action at home on March 17th as they take on their second opponent from Lone Star state as they face the 3-5 Coppell High School Cowboys at IMG Academy.
