Inaugural “Pope Cup” Lacrosse Tournament Celebrates Spirit of Catholic High Schools

Pope John II High School Hosts first Catholic High Schools Lacrosse Invitational Tournament Feb. 15-16

BOCA RATON, February 5, 2013 – Pope John Paul II High School announced they will be hosting the first Catholic High Schools Lacrosse Invitational tournament in Florida on Friday, February 15 and Saturday February 16, 2013.  Six Catholic high school varsity teams from around the state will compete in games to be played at both Pope John Paul II High School and at Patch Reef Park on Yamato Road. Pope’s Head Boys Lacrosse Coach Andrew Bolger hopes to encourage all lacrosse fans to “join us and see first hand the excitement of high school varsity lacrosse in honor of  Catholic high schools and their sports programs.  We are looking forward to seeing which winning team takes home the Pope Cup Trophy.” The teams participating in this inaugural event are from Pope John Paul II High School (Boca Raton), Cardinal Gibbons High School (Ft. Lauderdale), Cardinal Newman High School (W. Palm Beach), Belen Jesuit High School (Miami), Cardinal Mooney High School (Sarasota) and John Carroll Catholic High School (Ft. Pierce). Admission on Friday at Pope High School is $5 (under 12 is free).  Games will be played from 4:30 until 9:00 p.m. Games on Saturday will be played at Patch Reef Park from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. and are free.  A mass will be held on the field at 11:00 a.m. Saturday.  All are invited.
