Dolphins host Ohio State at EverBank Field next Sunday for the 2013 Moe’s Southwest Grill Lacrosse Classic DURHAM, N.C. – The Dolphins struck first, but not often enough as Jacksonville lost its 2013 season opener by a final of 21-9 at No. 6 Duke at Koskinen Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Senior midfielder TJ Kenary (Alpharetta, Ga.) scored the first of his three goals 52 seconds into the contest to stake JU to a 1-0 advantage.  Kenary added two more assists in the game to lead the Dolphins with five points on the afternoon. Duke, which lost a 14-12 decision to No. 9 Denver on Saturday, rattled off the next five goals after Kenary’s score to build a four goal advantage midway through the opening quarter.  Senior Cameron Mann(Hamilton, Ontario)  ended the Blue Devils’ run with his first score of the season followed by another goal from Kenary that cut the JU deficit in half. That would be as close as the Dolphins would get however as Duke responded with two more scores to close out the opening quarter with a 7-3 advantage.  Kenary and sophomore Rob Wertz (Lancaster, Pa.) added scores in the second period for JU against seven more goals for the Blue Devils as the margin grew to 14-5 at the half. Goals from Ari Waffle (Manlius, N.Y), David Goldman (Baltimore, Md.) and Brian Kensil (Massapequa, N.Y) led to a 3-2 fourth quarter advantage for the Dolphins. JU returns to action next Sunday at EverBank Field for the 2013 Moe’s Southwest Grill Classic.  The Dolphins host Ohio State at 3:15 pm follow a 1:00 pm contest between Denver and Penn State.
